Sydney Paper Crafts Festival Workshops

I'm excited to be teaching some workshops next week at the Sydney Paper Crafts Festival on April 5-7, 2013. Here's the details on the classes with the details on how you can book in:

Viva La Shimmy Canvas!

Join me to create two different home decor canvases - one for the girls and one for the guys! I will share stamping techniques using a variety of mediums to add shimmer and style to your projects. You’ll use a range of products including the new Viva Decor 3D Stamping Paint and Glitter Paste, Darkroom Door rubber stamps and stencils, Ranger inks and  Idea-ology trinkets. You'll learn mixed media techniques that can be applied to your scrapbooking, card making and any other paper crafts. In class you will have the use of many different coloured paints so you can tailor your canvas to your own colour tastes.

Distress Paint Tag Mini Books!


Create two different Tag Mini Books using a variety of products including Tim Holtz Distress Paints and Distress Inks, Darkroom Door rubber stamps, old book pages, Idea-ology trinkets and embellishments. I will share hints and tips on using the new Distress Paints along with ideas on rubber stamping to create beautiful multi page cards and books from mega-sized tags! The techniques you learn in class can be applied to your scrapbooking, mixed media and any other paper crafts. In class you will have the use of many different coloured Distress Paints so you can tailor your books to your own colour tastes.

2012 Stamping Cruise - Thank you!

What can I say? Put simply - the 2012 Australia / South Pacific Stamping Cruise on board the Rhapsody of the Seas was LOADS of fun! Our stamping group was amazing, they came from all over Australia and New Zealand and together we spent 13 days at sea exploring the islands of Fiji, New Caledonia and Vanuatu! I had an absolute ball teaching all the workshops. As you can imagine, the classroom was buzzing with excitement as new projects were being completed, new techniques being learned and new friendships being made.

The photo above is our stamping group. A big thanks to Lorelle (pictured in the front row on the right), owner of Crafting Cruises, for all her hard work and effort in co-ordinating the group.

Here is just a sneak at some of the projects that I taught on the cruise. I will share the projects in full when I return from Europe in a couple of weeks. But for now, I just wanted to give you a glimpse of the fun stuff we got up to :)

There's just a few of the classes I taught... the stampers also created a lot of cards and a 2012 calendar in another 3 workshops. I'll share those photos in upcoming blog posts. 

I would also like to say a HUGE thank you to the generous companies who helped make this cruise such an amazing adventure! These wonderful companies either sponsored workshops, donated prizes or sent in products that could be used to make cards for charities. I am forever grateful for your generous support: 

While on board the ship, our stampers created a total of 212 cards which will be donated to Aussie Troops so they can write home to their families and Ronald McDonald house. Thank you to all of the stampers who contributed their time and creativity while out at sea! It was a fantastic effort which I am sure will be appreciated by many!!!

One of the best rewards of an adventure like this is not only the chance to explore new places, but the friendships that are created along the way. Thank you so much to all of you for sharing this journey with me!

Papercraft - Workshops in France and UK

This week I will be teaching workshops at the Pour l'Amour du Scrap show in Lille, France!

I'm so excited to be teaching at the show - I know we have many Darkroom Door followers in Europe so I hope to meet many of you there! Of course I'll be bringing goodies with me to give away during the workshops and every person in the Stamping Techniques class will receive a Darkroom Door Word Block Stamp in their kit! Woo hoo!

Workshops | 2012 Stamping Cruise sets sail!

Well folks, today is the day we set sail for the 2012 Australian / South Pacific Stamping Cruise! To say we're excited is an understatement!! The past few weeks have been crazy here in the studio and warehouse, packing boxes, ticking things off our packing list, making sure we have everything we need for the workshops. (I always feel like we'll forget something, even though I've gone over things a thousand times!) But now... we're ready to set sail!

The ship will leave Sydney Harbour today and we'll sail for two days before arriving to our first stop at Isle of Pines, New Caledonia. Throughout the cruise I'll be teaching 6 workshops. I know many of you are wondering what I'll be teaching... so I'll share the projects once we return. Our group consists of 50 ladies, plus partners, friends and children. The stampers will also have 24 hour access to the stamping room, so I'm sure there's going to be some fun nights ahead!

As we leave the harbour I'll be updating on Twitter and Facebook, so be sure to follow me there!

I'm really looking forward to spending the next 12 days out at sea... stamping, snorkelling and swimming! Let the journey begin...

2012 Stamping Cruise update

It's only 124 days until we set sail on the first Australian South Pacific Stamping cruise!

Many of you have been emailing with questions, so I thought I'd answer them here too in case it may help others that are booked on the cruise and those who are thinking of coming on the cruise. Here goes...

Is the cruise booked out?
No. It was booked out, but unfortunately a few people had to pull out when we had to change the dates. At the moment there are only 6 spots left in the classes. (That's stamping spots. There's plenty of room for partners and family, so you're welcome to bring along the tribe!)

What will I need to bring?
Your camera, a sense of fun, a big smile and a few stamping supplies. I'll confirm with the attendees what they will need to bring in the next few weeks. I'll be bringing along many tools and supplies to use in the classes, however there will be a few basic craft supplies that you will need to bring along. You will have the use of a 24 hour stamp room, so if you plan on doing any stamping in your own time, bring along any supplies that you think you will need.

Will supplies be for sale during the cruise?
Yes, we will have a shop that will have supplies for sale at set times during the cruise.

What will I be teaching?
Ahhh, the classes are under wraps :) Rest assured, as it's a 'stamping' cruise, each class has lots of stamping, inking, layering, collaging etc. We'll be creating many different projects with lots of different products and even using some special limited edition stamps... (whoops, did I just say that?)

Will there be a goodie bag?
Yes, everyone receives a special tote bag full of goodies, plus there's lots of prizes and giveaways from generous companies who want everyone to have the best time ever!

Help - I've never stamped before! Will I be able to do the classes?
Of course! I love new stampers :) I'm more than happy to show you the ropes and soon enough you will be well addicted to the world of stamping! Welcome aboard I say!!
