Happy New Year! We spent our new years eve in Sydney to see the
fireworks, something we haven't done for a few years. 15 years infact if
my memory serves me correctly! Boy how time flies! In the past we've
seen the fireworks from all different vantage points - Mrs Macquaries Point for the front on view of the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and
Circular Quay for a closer viewpoint, but this time we went to
Kirribilli, right next to Luna Park. We managed to get a spot right on
the water in full view of the whole city. We had a very close up angle
of the Harbour Bridge and could see along the east and west sides of the
harbour, meaning we could basically see almost every firework that was about
to be let off.
At 8.30pm they do a 'test', just a couple of fireworks to make sure
everything is ok and obviously to get the crowd all pumped up. The
bridge was oozing red, making it look like it was on fire.
As you can see, the sun was just setting in the background. The 9pm
fireworks were great - mainly to give the kids something to see if they
cannot stay for the midnight mayhem! Kirribilli was a great spot to be,
it's all sectioned off as a no-alcohol zone, so it's civilised and fun
for families and anyone just wanting to have a great night. The crowd
was getting larger as midnight drew near and the atmosphere was buzzing.
Finally the big countdown happened and we were literally IN the fireworks!
There were fireworks everywhere! Above us, beside us, in front of us. We were surrounded and loved every minute of it!
The Sydney Harbour Bridge was shooting out lots of crackers! Seeing it side on was amazing!
It was crazy! And fun! One of my most favourite parts of the Sydney fireworks is the waterfall they do off the Harbour Bridge right at the end. It's so soft and dreamlike. Tonight didn't disappoint...

Totally spectacular! While I would have loved to have been there too, nothing was like being in amongst the washing machine of fireworks that we experienced. It was incredible!
