I had a fabulous time at the Pages 2 Scrap retreat on the weekend, I was only there on saturday for my class, but it was so nice to catch up with old friends, meet new friends, watch old couples frolick in the pool, see hot men walk past the window, watch Tracey walk back from a spa treatment sooo relaxed, and of course teach a few cards to all of the ladies!It was a fun afternoon, I wished I could have stayed longer...
The cards I'm showing here were created for the Darkroom Door blog using the new Hearts and Just My Style stamp sets. I've always been a fan of red and enjoyed using it one these cards.
Tonight Stewart & I will be attending the NSW Export Awards ceremony. We were lucky enough to win the Hunter Central Coast Small Business Export Award back in August, which then puts us into the next round which is tonight's ceremony. Darkroom Door are finalists in the Arts & Entertainment category. We love this particular event, it's so well presented and with over 700 people in attendance there's lots of atmosphere and people to mingle with!
It's also fun chatting about papercraft and rubber stamps with other business people in different fields. Sometimes they're not so sure what you're talking about, but they're so inquisitive and find the whole concept facsinating! I keep thinking it would be easier to just take a whole bunch of handmade cards with me to show everyone what an 'art' rubber stamp is. Most of them first think of the 'business' rubber stamps with addresses and dates etc. Once I explain that they are made from my photographic images or from my drawings, they understand, and usually know someone who makes cards or scrapbooks.
I'm still so grateful that my work revolves around the visual arts. I remember being back at Uni, studying photography, print making, fibre arts etc. I knew my main goal was to work in photography, but to be able to combine it with other forms of visual art really is the ultimate for me!
