A new species of lizard

I'm busy busy here getting ready for a trip to New Zealand on Wednesday! I'm heading over to demo and teach for Stamping Fun Unlimited on Thursday, then onto stamp camp for the weekend to teach for 2bStamping. My luggage is already well over the limit with kits and supplies (and giveaways!!!) I have been told there's some great scenery and walks around the camp, so I'm looking forward to some photography too!

I was cleaning up some old papers and things over the weekend, and came across this little inkjet print that my younger brothers had made for me a few years ago. I'd had this pinned to my noticeboard for a long time until the image started to deteriorate from the light, then I put it away. I should have scanned it while it was still a good print. But the lines in the photo just make it all the more funnier now :) They made this when we were all out at Mum's farm visiting one weekend. Makes me laugh.

I hope you've all had a wonderful Easter weekend! I'll share some photos of New Zealand on my return next week :)

Here's to a long and creative journey...

From Flat Stanley

Dear Madison,

Hello from Australia! I have arrived safely in the mailbox of the Greig-Yule family. There's a Mum called Rachel, a Dad called Stewart, a boy called Ethan who is 6 years old and is in Yr 1 at school, and a girl called Zoë who is 3 years old and goes to pre-school. This family is very lively. Already we have gone on so many adventures. Yesterday we went to the zoo in Sydney! They showed me lots of Australian animals, including spiders (scary!), crocodiles, emus, koalas, and I especially loved the kangaroos! I even got to pat a snake and a lizard!

It was such a beautiful summers day, so we went on a ferry ride across the Sydney Harbour and saw the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. On the ferry it was really windy and my head nearly blew off, but luckily Rachel helped me stay together so I could continue the journey. We took lots of photos so I will come home with lots of things to show you!

At the end of the day we went to Luna Park. This place was so much fun! There were lots of fun rides and everything was bright and colorful. I pretended I was a clown too. Then Zoë and I decided to get married!

For breakfast Ethan and Zoë often eat Vegemite on toast. I wanted to try it too. It looks brown, and I thought it was going to taste like Nutella, but it doesn't! It was a different taste. Ethan and Zoë said they love it. These Aussies eat strange things!

Your Auntie Robin sent over my books for the family to read. They got very excited when the postman gave them the box. The postman came at 6.30am! Isn't that early! Rachel was still in her pajamas, and her curly hair goes really wild after a sleep, so the postman really laughed at her! (and us too!) We all enjoyed looking at the books and Ethan & Zoë said they can't wait to read them.

Thank you so much for sending me over here, I have had such a great time here. I'm being sent home now, I think it will be a long journey, but I'm happy to relax for a while - I need some rest after my big adventures here in Australia.

I'm looking forward to seeing you soon and showing you all the things I did on my journey!

Your friend,

Maya Road and other fun goodness...

Not so long ago I won some Maya Road goodness from a comp on Wendy's blog... and it arrived here last week! Look at all this fun stuff! Just delicious!

And Wendy also surprised me with a birthday card. Check out her use of sheers. Love it!! You're so talented Wendy!!! Thank you SO much!

Speaking of Wendy - she also had a canvas on the Ranger booth at CHA, and has a photo of them together on her blog here. The one that is missing was made by Suze Weinberg. Apparently it had fallen off and had broken, and was off being fixed when this photo was taken. She must have had a lot of melt art on there!!!

Now for some enabling... Ginny has given her Small Studio Productions online store a new look, and has some amazing stuff! Check it out here! She posts internationally too which is great for us Aussies. She may even throw in some free snow since she has heaps of it at the moment. (check that out here! Amazing!)

Yesterday I spent some time with my family and watched two of my brothers on the MotoX track. Here's Darrell:

And here's Ken:

I've had some great mail this week too - my latest issue of Stamping & Papercraft arrived and i have 2 cards in this issue using Maya Road goodies. The photos in the mag showed the cards flat, which didn't show the  fun window I made for the Miss You card, so I have photographed it so you can see it a little better.

I cut a window from the front of the card and attached the sheer with twine. I inked up the sheer with Latte Alcohol ink and the chipboard frame with some Distress Ink. Stamps and sheers are all Maya Road.

Here's the other card I made too:

Lastly, it has been so much fun teasing you with Darkroom Door stuff! I too am waiting impatiently for the opening. Thank you so much for your comments - I really appreciate hearing from you and I hope to have some news very soon!!! (and some full projects to show you!) Fun fun fun...  I'm BUSTING to share it all with you!

Take yourself on a journey
