Right now I'm in the Apple Store in Soho, NYC, testing out the new computers :) Have just been to Kate's Paperie, and found myself some nice little items! So many cool shops in this place! I'm not usually a shopper when it comes to cities, but with shops like 'Cards & Curiosities' how can you resist not going in there? Plenty of goodies for the kids like cool bats for Halloween, and googly eyes etc. Fun stuff.
But wow, NYC is pretty amazing. This is my 3rd day here (but my first full day) and I've only just been able to get a real feel for it today. I've travelled the length of Manhattan island now, and am spending time in the streets just checking things out. Yesterday I went to the Statue of Liberty, which is much nicer close up than looking from Manhattan or the ferry. Then I went to Ground Zero. This was amazing. The surface area of the land didn't surprise me (it is big), but just being there was so sad. They have a 9/11 memorial museum across the road (it only opened last month), and I spent a lot of time in there. It had objects that were found in the rubble, and just reading some of the stories, hearing the firemen's sound recordings from the day etc... it was just so sad.
Today I've been doing the red double decker bus tour to see the main things, and tonight I'm off to Brooklyn to see the Manhattan skyline from across the river.
Oh - and I went into The Ink Pad - a cool little stamp store. And I mean little!!! But they had so much crammed in there. I found some cool stamps and a new book. Nice! Went out to dinner with Kilee (my cousins girlfriend) and had to meet her at Nike headquarters. She showed me all the new Nike stuff that's being released soon. I'm not hugely into sports, but maybe some of you are - anyway, so many new funky shoes, plus heaps of other stuff.
OK, gotta go before I get kicked off this thing! Seeya!!
PS: Yep, Michelle - got my new 5D camera! Have worked it hard already!!!! It's bewdiful!
