Craft & Quilt Fair - Canberra

This week I will be a Guest Artist at the Craft & Quilt Fair in Canberra, which is open 10am-4.30pm from Thursday 11th August through to Sunday 14th August.

I will be demonstrating and running make & takes with Darkroom Door Rubber Stamps (including the new Word Black Stamps and Background Stamps!), Viva Decor products and Ranger products! It's going to be a fun filled week and I have lots of different techniques and ideas to share with you!

My booth is in between Aisle G and H, next to Craft Queen!

Craft & Quilt Fair - Melbourne

This week I will be a Guest Artist at the Craft & Quilt Fair in Melbourne, which is open 9am-5pm from Thursday 28th July through to Sunday 31st July.

I will be demonstrating and running make & takes with Darkroom Door Rubber Stamps (including the new Word Black Stamps and Background Stamps!), Viva Decor products and Ranger products! It's going to be a fun filled week and I have lots of different techniques and ideas to share with you!

My booth is at the beginning of  Aisle B and C, which is just inside the front entrance.

Sydney Craft & Quilt Show wrap up

Happy Monday! Last week was a busy week here at Darkroom Door... I was Guest Artist at the Craft & Quilt Fair in Sydney, so that kept me busy and my hands inky all week! It was so much fun to demo stamping techniques to the show attendees. We also ran some make and takes, where participants got to use various stamps (Background Stamps, Word Blocks, Photo Stamps, stamps in tins...) along with Distress Inks, Viva Decor Precious Metal Colour paints, Distress Stains and many other tools and supplies.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to see what I was up to. It was great to chat to so many people and share ideas about rubber stamping! Here's a couple of photos of different things I was demoing during the show...

Creating backgrounds with the new Distress Stains and stamping over the top with Word Block Stamps. Backgrounds created just by sponging the Distress Inks looks great too:

These Word Block stamps are so fabulous (if I do say so myself)! They look great with the crayon resist technique too!

Colouring with Marvy Le Plumes... bringing these cupcakes to life:

Look how shimmery the Precious Metal Colour looks on this tag below:

I showed a few different techniques with the Precious Metal Colour, but haven't got any other photos to show you unfortunately. They were a real hit though - everyone loved seeing them in action!

UK Stitches Trade Show Re-cap

Last month I attended the Craft, Hobby & Stitch Trade Show in the UK to demo and teach for our UK distributor Personal Impressions. I'll be the first to admit that one of the perks of this job is having the chance to travel to different areas of the globe, meeting new people and spending time with those who love to craft! Being surrounded by so much inspiration, new products and new ideas, it's fuel for the soul! Here's the Personal Impressions booth:

I had the opportunity to teach a workshop to some of the retailers and it was good to show them different uses for the Rubber Stamps, Photo Stamps and Background Stamps. We also used a few Filmstrips and Wordstrips.

While I wasn't teaching, I was demoing on the booth and sharing ideas using our newest stamps. You may remember some blog posts where I shared what I was demoing here, here and here. By the end of the show I had made quite a few card samples:

Of course at a trade show there's also the social side of things... including dinners with friends from Ranger, Pergamano, Spellbinders and all the gang from Personal Impressions, and many other catch ups with UK store owners. My friend Lindsay Mason (who designs some fabulous stamps for Personal Impressions) blogged some funny photos from one of our dinners here, including a funny one of Tim and I taking self portraits with our iPhones.

Back on the booth I had fun catching up with Lindsay and Paula Pascual who both design stamps for Personal Impressions and who I did QVC UK with last year.

And all too soon, the days have passed and the show is over for another year. It was a fabulous show - I absolutely love catching up with everyone from Personal Impressions and all the store owners that drop by the booth. Thanks to everyone who came to check out the demos and to see all of our new products.

Stitches UK Trade Show

Hey everyone! I'm now in Birmingham UK to demo and teach at the UK Craft Hobby and Stitch Trade Show (known as Stitches) on the Personal Impressions booth - our fabulous UK distributors! It's such a fun show to be at, I love catching up with everyone at PI and I love meeting all the UK and European retailers. 

We'll also be showcasing our new collections and rubber stamp sets at this show... I'll try and update the blog with a few highlights! You can also follow our Twitter feeds and Facebook Page!

Brisbane Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo

Last week we had a booth at the Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo in Brisbane. It's a retail show, and since we are primarily wholesalers, we only had a display booth to show off our products and a demo table where I made all sorts of fun things with the latest stamps. There were several Darkroom Door stockists at the show who were selling our products, so it was pretty easy for attendees to find our goodies!

Here's our little booth:

My aim was to just demo all day, chat to people, let people know about Darkroom Door and hopefully share lots of ways that our products can be used. When I was sitting in that chair doing demo's, I could barely see out of the booth as it was packed all day Saturday! There was a great crowd! Sunday and Monday were also busy for us.

 

 

The Photo Stamps and Background Stamps were certainly popular. We always try to show a sample from each stamp so people can see how it looks when it's stamped. There's always lots of questions about the samples and how they were made, which techniques were used etc.

We displayed all 48 stamp sets in the tins. That's the whole collection. I wonder if any of you out there own the whole collection yet?

I used the Size 4 and Size 8 tags to demo onto. Along with lots of Distress Ink, Marvy pens, Background Stamps, Filmstrips etc etc!! (and I call this work???!!!! Lucky me!)

So many people dropped by the booth - but it was always so busy that I never had my camera out to take pictures! I had to wait until the end of the day to take these pictures to show you.

Anyway... thanks to everyone who came to our booth to check out my demos! It was great to see and meet so many lovely people and see so many familiar faces from classes that I've taught in the past. Hope you all enjoyed the show!
