One of my favorite ways to spend the day is playing in my art journal and one of the hot trends right now is carving your own stamps. While I feel quite at home in an art journal, the same can't be said about stamp carving... I like 'em ready-made! I used the Carved Flowers stamps today and really enjoyed having the choice of so many different flowers that come in the set.
I decided to focus on the flower heads by showcasing them, and ignoring the stems. After painting some dictionary pages with Golden fluid acrylics, I stamped directly onto them with jet black Archival ink, and used a variety of circle punches to create my page accents.
Lots of stenciling to build up my background papers and I used Tim Holtz's new Mini Filmstrip Border die as an anchor on either side.
Most of my stencil layers are archival inks though the first addition to the pages was a good coat of gesso. Here you can see how the chicken wire stencil is raised up texturally because I used gesso on that layer.
I used the Regal Frame stamp as a place for my page title, which I spelled out with old alphabet stickers.
Thanks for visiting!
